Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Nov 4 (NationPress) In a significant blow to organized crime, the Delhi Police have apprehended two active participants of the Kala Jathedi-Om Parkash (Kala) gang, who were reportedly en route to execute a criminal act.
The arrests took place in Dwarka, Delhi, where the Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) seized two country-made pistols along with live cartridges from their possession, as confirmed by officials on Tuesday.
As per a statement from the Dwarka District Police, the individuals have been identified as Vinod alias Bona (27) and Dhruv (19), both hailing from Jharoda Kalan village in Delhi. The police indicated that the arrests were made following actionable intelligence suggesting that the pair, known associates of gangster Om Parkash alias Kala, were present in the area armed with illegal firearms.
“Acting promptly on a tip-off, an AATS team from Dwarka intercepted the suspects in Jharoda village and retrieved one advanced pistol alongside one country-made pistol containing live cartridges,” stated DCP Dwarka Ankit Singh, who leads an initiative called ‘No Guns, No Gangs’ aimed at combating organized crime within the district.
The police reported that both individuals are habitual offenders. Vinod alias Bona has multiple charges under the Arms Act and was recently released from incarceration. Dhruv, previously implicated in two criminal cases, was allegedly attempting to rejoin the gang. Investigators revealed that both were acting under the directives of Om Parkash @ Kala, who is currently in judicial custody under the MCOCA, along with his brother Amit alias Bage.
During questioning, the suspects confessed they intended to target a person from their village due to personal grievances. They claimed to have become affiliated with the gang approximately a year ago through Amit @ Bage and were drawn back into criminal activities following their release from jail.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 352/25, dated October 28, under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act at the Baba Haridass Nagar police station. The seized weapons and cartridges will undergo forensic analysis.
“These arrests have thwarted a potential violent act. The Dwarka Police are dedicated to upholding law and order and ensuring that illegal firearms and gang activities are not tolerated,” remarked DCP Ankit Singh in the press release.
Ongoing investigations are focused on tracing the origins of the weapons and identifying additional associates of the gang.
