Jaipur, Jan 22 (NationPress) In a distressing continuation of student suicides in Kota, an 18-year-old boy named Parag from Assam took his life by hanging from a ceiling. Parag was in Kota to prepare for the JEE, with his examination set for January 27.

He lived in the Mahavir Nagar region, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Jawahar Nagar police station.

Currently, his mother is present in Kota.

The motives behind Parag's tragic decision remain unknown.

His body has been transferred to the mortuary for additional investigation.

Just recently, on Wednesday morning, another NEET aspirant, Afsha Sheikh from Ahmedabad, also committed suicide.

She had been attending coaching classes at a Kota institution.

In total, six students have taken their lives in Kota this January.

Circle Inspector Ram Lakshman confirmed the identity of the deceased student as Afsha Sheikh, a resident of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Afsha had relocated to Kota around six months ago and was residing at Pratiksha Residency, a paying guest accommodation.

On Wednesday morning, the PG owner discovered her hanging from a rope in her room.

The police and the student's family were immediately notified.

A postmortem will be performed following the family's arrival.

The authorities have yet to disclose the reason behind her suicide.

Earlier, on January 7, Neeraj (19) from Mahendragarh, Haryana, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his hostel room located in Jawahar Nagar.

The following day, on January 8, another student, Abhishek (20), from Guna, Madhya Pradesh, who was living in Vigyan Nagar, also ended his life by hanging. He was preparing for JEE Advanced.

On January 16, Abhijit Giri (18), another JEE aspirant from Odisha, also died by hanging from a fan in Vigyan Nagar.

On January 18, another JEE aspirant named Manan, from Indergarh, Bundi district, took his own life. He had been living with his maternal grandparents in Kota for the past three years.

This worrying trend has sparked serious concerns regarding the mental health struggles faced by students in Kota, a prominent center for competitive exam preparation, according to a police officer.
