Bengaluru, April 21 (NationPress) Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated on Monday that there are accusations suggesting that the spouse of the slain former DGP Om Prakash may have been involved in the crime, although no arrests have been made yet as the investigation continues.

He mentioned that the woman is currently in police custody and is undergoing questioning.

During a press briefing in Bengaluru, Parameshwara remarked, “No arrests have been made yet in this case.”

He further added, “Law enforcement is examining whether his wife played a role in the crime. We must await the findings of the investigation. While there are claims regarding her involvement, the inquiry is still in process,” he reiterated.

“Om Prakash had collaborated with me in 2015, when I served my first term as Home Minister. He was then the DGP. He was a skilled officer and a good individual. This incident is tragic. We must comprehend the reasons behind it,” he expressed.

“I am not aware of the motives behind the murder. We cannot speculate on any specific reasons until the investigation concludes,” he added.

When inquired about reports suggesting that the wife had filed complaints against Om Prakash and communicated via WhatsApp groups post-incident, the Home Minister stated he was not informed of such particulars and stressed that every aspect is under investigation. “I would be making assumptions at this stage. Until the investigation is concluded, nothing can be validated,” he stated.

In response to questions regarding initial findings, he stated, “I have been notified about the murder event. Beyond that, no additional details have been provided to me.”

“We are currently unaware of the motive or any additional information. Once the investigation is finalized and we receive the report, we will be able to offer more insights. As of now, no arrests have been made. The wife is in custody for questioning. Beyond that, there are no further updates,” he reiterated.

Nonetheless, sources confirmed that the Karnataka Police are interrogating the wife and daughter of former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash (68) concerning his brutal murder. The two were taken into custody and transported to the police station from the Observation Centre in a Hoysala patrol vehicle.

Police sources confirmed that the deceased officer’s wife, Pallavi, had sent a message to the spouse of an IPS officer, indicating that she had “finished off a monster.” The police have also collected information that Pallavi made a video call after allegedly committing the crime.

Initial investigations have suggested that Om Prakash was killed by his wife, Pallavi. However, police speculate that it might have been challenging for one individual to execute such a brutal act alone, prompting them to question the daughter as well.

Addressing the recent shooting incident involving the son of former underworld figure Muthappa Rai, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, Parameshwara stated that the investigation is ongoing. He confirmed that authorities are gathering details regarding the firearm used and other related evidence.

“I have directed officials to take the investigation seriously, as we must adopt stricter measures to prevent such occurrences,” Parameshwara stated.

Ricky Rai, son of the late underworld figure Muthappa Rai, was targeted by unidentified assailants outside his farmhouse in Bidadi, near Bengaluru, on April 19. Ricky has been admitted to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru, with sources indicating that he narrowly escaped death.

The Bidadi Police have filed an FIR against four individuals, including Muthappa Rai's second wife, Anuradha.
