How has life resumed in Srinagar and the Kashmir Valley?

Srinagar, May 13 (NationPress) Life in Srinagar and throughout the Kashmir Valley has returned to a state of normalcy, as schools, colleges, universities, markets, transport, and various businesses resumed operations on Tuesday. This marked the first flight landing at Srinagar Airport since May 7, when the airfield was taken under the control of the Air Force.

Aside from the border regions of Uri, Tangdhar, Karnal, and Gurez, educational institutions opened their doors throughout the Valley, with activity bustling back into the markets after a six-day period of uncertainty.

Haj flights, which had been suspended, are set to resume, and pilgrims heading to Saudi Arabia have been instructed to report to the Haj House in the Bemina area of Srinagar at 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

All colleges and universities also commenced classwork, with Kashmir University sending notifications to students to return for regular academic activities at its various campuses on Tuesday.

Flight operations at Srinagar International Airport resumed on Monday after a six-day break, providing much-needed relief to travelers.

The first flight to land was an Air India service from New Delhi, signifying the official restoration of air connectivity to the Kashmir Valley.

This flight suspension, which started last week, was linked to the current situation in the area. Although authorities did not provide detailed explanations, the decision to halt flights was made as a precaution to safeguard the well-being of passengers and crew members.

Officials at the airport confirmed that all essential security measures had been evaluated, and clearance was granted for the return of regular operations.

“Flight operations are back to normal, and airlines have been informed to resume their schedules,” an airport spokesperson stated.

The hiatus had inconvenienced hundreds of passengers, many of whom found themselves stranded or needed to modify their travel arrangements.

With the reopening of the airport, travelers can anticipate a gradual return to normal operations, including arrivals and departures from various domestic airlines.

Officials have encouraged passengers to check with their respective airlines for updated schedules and to arrive at the airport well in advance.

Shoppers flocked to markets in the morning as housewives visited vegetable markets to purchase fresh produce for their families.

Thanks to the unwavering efforts of Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, the divisional commissioner of Kashmir, a steady supply of essential goods was maintained during the previous challenging six days.

Bidhuri took proactive measures to prevent panic buying, ensuring that the public was aware of the availability of essential items in the Valley. His approachable presence among the community helped alleviate concerns and stopped panic buying at petrol stations, ration stores, and markets.
