Delhi CM Rekha Gupta launches ₹3.5 crore Aftercare Scheme for orphans above 18

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday, 11 May 2025, approved the Aftercare Scheme for Young Persons, extending state support to orphaned children beyond the age of 18 — covering college education, skill development, and employment assistance. The scheme, launched on the occasion of Mother's Day, carries an outlay of ₹3.5 crore for the current financial year.

What the Scheme Offers

Under the new initiative, eligible beneficiaries will receive assistance for higher education and college studies, access to vocational training and skill development programmes, and connections to internships and employment opportunities. A monthly stipend and broader financial support have also been built into the scheme's framework, according to an official statement.
