Murder of Telangana Police Constable Raises Suspicions of Honour Killing

Hyderabad, Dec 2 (NationPress) In a suspected case of honour killing, a woman police constable was allegedly murdered by her brother due to her inter-caste marriage in Ibrahimpatnam, located near Hyderabad, on Monday.

Nagamani was commuting to her duty at Hayathnagar Police Station on Monday morning when her brother, Pramesh, reportedly collided with her bike using his car and subsequently assaulted her with a hunting sickle.

The incident took place on the Raipole-Manyaguda road in the Ibrahimpatnam mandal of Rangareddy district.

Upon being alerted by bystanders, police arrived promptly at the scene and discovered the woman constable lying lifeless. The assailant had inflicted severe wounds on her face and neck with the sickle.

Originating from Raipole village in the Ibrahimpatnam mandal, Nagamani was a police constable from the 2020 batch. She had returned to her village on Sunday and was on her way back to duty on Monday.

A significant crowd gathered at the crime scene. The police transported the body to Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad for an autopsy while collecting evidence.

Initial investigations suggested that Nagamani was murdered by her brother, who disapproved of her marriage to an individual from a different caste.

The police have initiated a search for the accused, who is currently evading capture.

Nagamani had previously been married but divorced her husband around 10 months ago. She entered into an inter-caste marriage about a month prior, which was described as a love marriage.

As per Ibrahimpatnam Circle Inspector B. Satyanarayana, the police constable wed a man named Srikant at the Yadagirigutta temple on November 1.

A murder case has been lodged at the Ibrahimpatnam Police Station. The Circle Inspector mentioned that they are examining the case from various perspectives, including a potential property dispute between the siblings.

The police plan to interview Nagamani's husband, Srikant, as his statement may provide crucial insights for solving the case.
