Guwahati, Jan 2 (NationPress) The senior women's cricket team from Namibia is set to engage in a four-match friendly series against Assam, commencing on January 8. This tour is a part of a reciprocal arrangement established between the Assam Cricket Association and Cricket Namibia.
Throughout the duration of this tour, the Namibian team will face off against the Assam senior women's squad in a friendly series featuring two 50-over matches and two T20 games. The eagerly awaited series is slated to take place from January 8-11 at MSA Stadium, Mangaldai, and the ACA Cricket Academy Ground, Fulung, North Guwahati.
“This international series signifies a crucial milestone for Assam cricket, fortifying sporting relations between India and Namibia while offering an excellent opportunity for players from both sides to showcase their talents, competitiveness, and the true essence of the game.
“The Assam Cricket Association is excited to host this thrilling series, celebrating the spirit of international cricket and nurturing enduring sporting ties with Cricket Namibia,” stated ACA Secretary Sanatan Das in a statement released on Friday.
According to the itinerary provided by the ACA, the Namibian senior women's team will arrive in Guwahati on January 6, with a practice session and a rest day planned for January 7 before the series kicks off.
The first 50-over match will take place on January 8, followed by the second ODI at the same venue the next day. The two T20 matches are set for January 10 and 11, after which the Namibian team will return home on January 12.
Previously, a 15-member senior men's squad from Assam completed a five-match 50-over tour in Namibia from June 18 to July 1, 2025. Additionally, a 14-member senior women's team from Assam toured Malaysia to play five 50-over matches from July 5-16 last year.
