Guwahati, March 26 (NationPress) The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has made it a priority to advance numerous ongoing development initiatives aimed at ensuring their consistent progress, closely aligning with its strategic vision and operational objectives, as stated by officials on Thursday. These initiatives are focused on enhancing operational efficiency, upgrading infrastructure, and providing improved services throughout the region.

General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava of the Northeast Frontier Railway undertook an extensive inspection of various segments in the Lumding Division to assess infrastructure development, safety systems, and passenger amenities.

According to Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer for the Northeast Frontier Railway, the inspection covered a wide range of ongoing development projects to ensure their continuous alignment with the strategic vision and operational goals of the Northeast Frontier Railway.

The inspection began at Kamakhya and included significant locations like Lumding, Diphu, and Barpathar.

In Lumding, the General Manager evaluated the proposed Loco Mid-life Rehabilitation Project at the relief yard, which is designed to boost locomotive efficiency and ensure long-term operational sustainability.

A successful speed trial was conducted between Bokajan and Barpathar over a distance of 31.3 km, achieving speeds of up to 120 km/h while adhering to all safety regulations. This reflects the Northeast Frontier Railway’s ongoing commitment to capacity enhancement, track standards, and safe train operations.

During his visit to Diphu, several key passenger-centric and safety-enhancing initiatives were inspected and showcased. This included the installation of the Electronic Interlocking Double Section system between Diphu and Daldali, which significantly enhances operational safety across the 10 km stretch.

The review also included closed-circuit television surveillance systems aimed at boosting station security and enhancing passenger confidence.

Moreover, a newly constructed Road Under Bridge, which replaces Level Crossing Gate number ST-58, was inspected. This marks a significant advancement in safety, ensuring seamless road-rail connectivity, and reducing congestion.

At Barpathar station, the General Manager carried out detailed inspections and observed demonstrations of modern technologies, including data and voice recording systems at level crossing gates.

Crucial track components such as Points and Crossings, Long Welded Rails, and Switch Expansion Joints were also examined to guarantee safety and maintenance standards.

He engaged with field staff, acknowledging their dedication while emphasizing the importance of safety, efficiency, and teamwork.

The inspection also included significant engineering assets, such as minor and major bridges like Bridge number 331.

Advanced safety systems, including pre-warning mechanisms at unmanned crossings and innovative trolley-mounted greasing systems, were reviewed, highlighting the Northeast Frontier Railway’s focus on modern maintenance practices and technology-driven solutions.

The inspection continued with a review at Jamuguri, assessing ongoing projects under the Lumding Division.
