Guwahati, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has engaged in a variety of proactive measures aimed at enhancing customer engagement and boosting freight revenue throughout November, as reported by officials on Tuesday.
NFR's Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma indicated that these initiatives are designed to improve logistics performance, broaden cargo handling capabilities, and guarantee the smooth transit of freight, thereby supporting regional industrial and commercial development.
As part of these initiatives, the Rangapani station in the Katihar Division of Bihar has commenced operations for both incoming and outgoing Indented Parcel Train traffic, as well as Parcel Cargo Express Train services starting from November 4, until further notice.
In another customer-focused initiative, the Langting station in the Lumding Division of Assam has been opened for managing outgoing Bamboo traffic from November 21, enhancing market access for regional produce and related industries.
Through the Business Development Unit (BDU) initiative, NFR reported impressive freight movements during November 2025. A total of 2,035 wagons of stone chips were dispatched under the Lumding Division from various locations such as Molvom in Nagaland and Bihara in Assam, to destinations like Jirania in Tripura, generating freight earnings of around Rs 8.15 crore during this month.
Furthermore, under the BDU initiative, 1,136 wagons of cement were transported under the Lumding Division in November 2025.
The freight was moved from significant loading points including Tetelia, Lanka, and Salchapra to major destinations such as Khongsang railway station in Manipur and New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, generating freight revenue of approximately Rs 4.77 crore.
Additionally, the BDU initiative facilitated the booking of 1,086 wagons of POL (Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants) traffic under the Lumding Division, contributing about Rs 4.41 crore to the freight revenue in November 2025.
Sharma emphasized that the Northeast Frontier Railway remains committed to enhancing its freight services and customer engagement through targeted initiatives and business-friendly strategies.
With continued efforts and customer-centric solutions, NFR is dedicated to delivering efficient, reliable, and competitive freight transportation, significantly contributing to the regional logistics and supply chain ecosystem, as stated by the NFR CPRO.
The NFR serves the Northeastern states along with seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of north Bihar.
