New Delhi, Jan 31 (NationPress) Badr Albusaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, touched down in New Delhi on Saturday to participate in the second India–Arab Foreign Ministers' Meeting (IAFMM).
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed a warm welcome to Oman’s Foreign Minister via X, stating: “His visit will further enhance the multifaceted strategic partnership between India and Oman.”
Earlier on the same day, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, also arrived in New Delhi for the IAFMM.
The MEA warmly acknowledged the UAE leader's arrival, affirming, “His visit will further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE.”
On Friday, Foreign Ministers from Libya, Eltaher S M Elbaour, Somalia, Abdisalam Ali, and Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, arrived in New Delhi to partake in the second IAFMM.
Extending a cordial welcome to the visiting delegates, the MEA indicated that their presence would bolster the bilateral partnerships between India and their respective nations.
On Friday, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar engaged with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, in New Delhi to discuss enhancing collaboration across various sectors.
After their discussions, EAM Jaishankar shared on X, “A productive meeting with Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit this morning. We had an extensive conversation regarding our cooperation and ways to strengthen it across multiple domains. We also exchanged perspectives on recent regional developments.”
EAM Jaishankar further held individual meetings with Foreign Ministers from Comoros, Mbae Mohamed; Sudan, Mohieldin Salim Ahmed Ibrahim; Libya, Eltaher S.M. Elbaour; Somalia, Abdisalam Ali; and Varsen Aghabekian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates for Palestine.
The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and deepening collaboration across several sectors.
India is poised to host the second IAFMM on Saturday, which will also see participation from Foreign Ministers from various Arab League Member States and the Arab League Secretary General.
This meeting is anticipated to strengthen existing cooperation and broaden partnerships.
The second India-Arab Foreign Ministers Meeting marks a decade since the first meeting was held in Bahrain in 2016. During that inaugural meeting, leaders identified five key areas for collaboration: economy, energy, education, media, and culture, proposing numerous activities across these sectors.
