Rajasthan Mandates OTP and Diary Entry for Domestic LPG Deliveries
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 19 (NationPress) - During a crucial review meeting held at the State Secretariat, Rajasthan’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Sumit Godara, convened with officials and gas company representatives to evaluate the distribution and supply of domestic LPG across the state.
Godara, highlighting the State Government’s dedication under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, assured that LPG supply remains both stable and efficient, with domestic gas cylinders typically delivered within three to four days of booking.
He reassured the public that there is a sufficient stock of LPG available, alleviating any concerns.
The Minister confirmed that the uninterrupted supply of cooking gas extends to essential services such as hospitals, schools, Annapurna kitchens, and places of worship.
In a significant move to combat malpractice, Godara announced that delivery of domestic LPG cylinders will now require OTP verification and a mandatory diary entry.
This decision comes in response to reports of irregular activities at certain gas agencies, where cylinders were being diverted without proper checks.
“Such actions adversely affect genuine consumers and will not be tolerated,” he stated emphatically.
With approximately 1,300 gas agencies operating in the state, this new protocol aims to eradicate fraudulent bookings and enhance transparency in last-mile delivery.
Gas companies have been instructed to initiate extensive awareness campaigns at all agencies through posters and banners to inform consumers about the OTP-based delivery system.
The Minister emphasized the necessity for stringent supervision at all levels, noting that state and district vigilance committees are actively tackling issues such as black marketing, diversion, and illegal storage.
To bolster enforcement, field officers from gas companies have been mandated to conduct daily surprise inspections at various gas agencies, submitting reports with geotagged evidence while prioritizing monitoring in remote and high-risk areas.
“These actions will ensure complete accountability and thwart any form of diversion,” Godara remarked.
Ambrish Kumar, Secretary of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, confirmed that daily LPG supply volumes across the state remain consistent.
Robust monitoring mechanisms are in place to guarantee uninterrupted availability for domestic consumers.
Officials and gas agency representatives reported smooth operational flow in supply activities.
With improved availability, consumer confidence has risen, easing pressure on booking systems and enhancing the efficiency of gas company servers.
