New Delhi, Sep 3 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized in a recent interview with IANS that the citizens of this nation will hold accountable those who insulted Prime Minister Modi's late mother during the forthcoming elections. He asserted that such disrespect will not go unpunished.
He further accused the opposition of intentionally stirring irrelevant controversies, stating that their allegations of 'vote theft' are a direct affront to the people's verdict.
Here are some highlights from the interview -
IANS: With Rahul Gandhi and Tejasvi Yadav campaigning in Bihar, personal attacks against PM Modi and his late mother have surfaced. What is your perspective?
Eknath Shinde: This behavior is deeply shameful and contradicts our moral values by dragging PM Modi's late mother into the political arena. It deserves condemnation. Our culture, rooted in an ancient civilization, does not support such acts. While Rahul Gandhi has previously targeted PM Modi, the Prime Minister has refrained from retaliating.
PM Modi is devoted to India's development and aims for a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Despite global economic challenges, our nation has risen from 11th to 5th in economic standings, striving to secure the position of the third-largest economy.
The nation takes pride in PM Modi's leadership. Prior to 2014, media outlets were rife with corruption scandals, including the Commonwealth and 2G scams, which led to widespread discontent. This is why PM Modi's government was elected. Can anyone point to a single instance where the opposition has successfully implicated PM Modi in corruption?
There is not one instance of corruption against PM Modi; for the opposition, corruption comes first, but for him, the nation takes precedence. PM Modi maintains a clean reputation that cannot be questioned, yet it is inappropriate to attack him both domestically and internationally.
The opposition's inquiries regarding the Army during Operation Sindoor reflect a lack of national love. Regardless, PM Modi continued to focus on his developmental agenda. His late mother was a common woman, with no affiliations to any political party, and she embodies a maternal figure for everyone. Those who have insulted her will face consequences; history does not forgive such actions.
The citizens will not forget those who disrespected PM Modi and his mother, especially in Bihar during the upcoming elections.
IANS: Do you believe the opposition lacks valid issues to campaign on, leading them to resort to personal attacks?
Eknath Shinde: The opposition has no real issues to discuss. Their only strategy seems to be opposition for the sake of opposition. While PM Modi is dedicated to development, the opposition claims of 'vote theft' or EVM fraud arise only when they lose. When they win, they suddenly find the Election Commission to be credible. The people of Maharashtra have already responded to them. Their accusations of vote theft are an insult to the will of the people, especially our daughters and mothers. In the upcoming elections, the electorate will respond decisively against the opposition.
IANS: The establishment of Maharashtra Bhawan in London has been announced. What are your thoughts?
Eknath Shinde: This is a significant development and brings us great joy. The Maharashtra government has allocated Rs 5 crore for this initiative. The bhawan will be named Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, marking a proud moment for us as we expand our cultural presence.
IANS: What stance does the government take on the Maratha reservation issue?
Eknath Shinde: All decisions made by the Maharashtra government are within legal frameworks. CM Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar, and I have extensively discussed this issue, consulted experts, and engaged with the Advocate General. The government has issued a Government Resolution regarding these demands, which will ultimately benefit the populace.
