Tejashwi Yadav Critiques Nitish Kumar's Administration, Vows Welfare Initiatives if Elected

Patna, Jan 7 (NationPress) Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Bihar Assembly and a prominent member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, has voiced strong criticism against the Nitish Kumar-led NDA administration regarding significant issues like poverty, migration, unemployment, and inflation that are impacting the state.
In a statement to the media in Kaimur, Yadav asserted that the state government has not adequately tackled these pressing challenges, which continue to affect the impoverished population.
"For the last 20 years, Bihar has been under NDA governance, yet it is the poor who are suffering the most from these problems," the LoP remarked.
While outlining his party's objectives if they gain power, Yadav introduced a range of proposed welfare initiatives aimed at easing the economic burdens on the people of Bihar.
He pointed out that inflation is adversely affecting the common populace, particularly women, who struggle to manage their households.
In response, the RJD has introduced the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana, which promises every woman in the state a financial aid of Rs 2,500.
The RJD leader insisted that this program would be rolled out within a month of assuming office to ensure economic justice for women.
Discussing the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana, Yadav explained, "This initiative is designed to deliver economic justice to women and offer immediate financial relief to enhance their quality of life. It will be among our top priorities once we are elected."
Addressing the high electricity tariff caused by smart meters, the RJD leader pledged to provide 200 units of free electricity to each household.
Yadav's remarks are part of his ongoing campaign to position his party as the answer to the enduring problems faced by the people of Bihar, with a strong emphasis on socio-economic development.
He also revealed intentions to substantially increase pensions for senior citizens and widows if his party comes to power.
"Currently, the Bihar government offers only Rs 400 per month, which is inadequate. We plan to elevate this amount to Rs 1,500 to offer more substantial assistance to these vulnerable demographics," Yadav stated.
In defending his party's integrity, the LoP highlighted the RJD's accomplishments during its prior term.
"We have a solid history of keeping our promises. During our 17-month tenure, we created five lakh jobs and an additional three lakh positions across various sectors," he added.
Yadav accused the present state government of promoting corruption, particularly in its land survey program.
"The land survey initiative established by the Nitish Kumar administration has heightened corruption levels in Bihar. Reports of bribery in multiple departments have surged as a result of this flawed method," he claimed.
Tejashwi Yadav's commitments, including enhanced pensions, job creation, and addressing corruption, are part of a broader strategy to establish the RJD as a credible alternative to the NDA government ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for October or November 2025.
