Patna, Aug 2 (NationPress) Following claims by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav that his name is excluded from the ECI's draft voter list for Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday accused the RJD leader of misleading the public.
"Tejashwi Yadav, not just myself but your entire family and the people of Bihar question your competence. It must be quite challenging for you to locate your name in the SIR draft. Your name is duly registered with your father at serial number 416 - you can verify it yourself. Now cease this practice of deception and fraud," Deputy CM Choudhary expressed via the social media platform X.
He went on to assert, "Both the illusions and fears propagated by the RJD have proven to be unfounded repeatedly."
Earlier in the day, Tejashwi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, claimed that his name does not appear in the updated draft voter list post the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Shortly thereafter, both the Election Commission of India and the Patna District Administration issued official declarations refuting Tejashwi Yadav’s claims.
The clarifications indicated that Tejashwi Yadav’s name is indeed included in the updated voter roll.
He is registered at Polling Booth No. 204 – Bihar Animal Science University Library Building, with his entry noted at Serial Number 416. Previously, his name was at Booth No. 171, Serial No. 481.
The administration characterized the opposition leader's assertions as misleading rhetoric and urged political figures to confirm facts before making public declarations.
What started as a seemingly straightforward concern regarding the electoral process has escalated into a fierce political conflict.
While Tejashwi aimed to "uncover flaws" in the digital verification process and voice concerns about "voter disenfranchisement", the swift rebuttal from authorities has revealed the facts.
The BJP has characterized Tejashwi's statement as a "deliberate attempt to mislead voters" and has branded the incident an "expose of fabrications" by the opposition.
As Bihar approaches Assembly elections, this controversy underscores the volatility and sensitivity of the voter list issue, illustrating how rapidly it can escalate into intense political disputes.
