Hyderabad, March 17 (NationPress) The government of Telangana has officially initiated the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme on Monday, which is designed to extend financial support to youth from SC, ST, Backward Classes, and minority communities for self-employment opportunities.

The scheme was inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the Assembly premises, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, various ministers, legislators, and senior officials.

The Chief Minister revealed that the government aims to empower 5 lakh unemployed youths by allocating a substantial budget of Rs 6,000 crore.

Eligible beneficiaries will receive financial aid ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 4 lakh, with the list of beneficiaries set to be announced on June 2.

Each Assembly constituency will assist between 4,000 and 5,000 beneficiaries, ensuring that the truly unemployed are prioritized.

In his address, he highlighted that within 48 hours of assuming office, the Congress government introduced a free bus travel scheme for women and increased the Arogyasri coverage to Rs 10 lakh.

The Chief Minister noted that over 57,000 individuals have been recruited in government positions in the past 15 months. The government also provides up to 200 units of free electricity to 50 lakh low-income families and has implemented a cooking gas cylinder subsidy of Rs 500 for 43 lakh households.

Additionally, the government plans to distribute 1 crore 30 lakh quality sarees to women involved in self-help groups.

Revanth Reddy stated that free electricity is also provided to 29,500 government schools, with management handed to women self-help groups under the Amma Adarsh schools initiative.

Addressing Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the caste census being an X-ray of society, he mentioned that the state conducted its own caste census, leading to increased reservations for Backward Classes.

According to the caste survey, the Backward Classes population stands at 56.36%, prompting the government to allocate 42% reservation for BCs across education, employment, and political spheres. On this day, two Bills were passed by the Assembly.

A Bill for the sub-categorization of Scheduled Castes was also introduced, demonstrating the government's commitment to justice for SCs.

Revanth Reddy asserted that the Congress administration has made substantial reforms and maintained a transparent policy, stating, “Even with reduced state revenues and increased debt, we strive to govern honestly.”

The Chief Minister also discussed initiatives to boost revenue through sand sales, which previously generated Rs 1.50 crore per day, now increased to Rs 3.5 crore following strict policy enforcement.

Telangana reportedly leads in tax collection among states, with unemployment rates decreasing from 8.8% to 6.6%. The state is also recognized for maintaining a low inflation rate of 1.3%, as per official statistics from the Union government.
