New Delhi, May 6 (NationPress) The Union Minister of State and BJP leader Shantanu Thakur has expressed his support for West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose, who recently submitted a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the violence in Murshidabad. Thakur highlighted that the law-and-order situation in West Bengal is quite alarming and could result in severe repercussions if not addressed promptly.

In a conversation with IANS, Thakur stated, “The Honourable Governor has acted wisely. He has thoroughly assessed the situation and compiled his report based on his observations. I find his report to be accurate. If adequate security measures are not implemented in West Bengal soon, the circumstances could deteriorate significantly in the days ahead. We want to avoid a recurrence of the events of 1946 or the Great Calcutta Killings.”

When queried about the potential for President’s Rule in West Bengal, Thakur replied, “Such decisions depend on the prevailing conditions. If the situation necessitates it, appropriate measures will be taken.”

He also emphasized the need for a transparent and impartial investigation into the Murshidabad violence that resulted in the deaths of three individuals.

“It is crucial to uncover the actual facts. Only by understanding the truth can the public discern whether this violence was triggered by someone or if it was a natural outcome of the passing of the Waqf Bill,” he remarked.

On the international front, Thakur firmly addressed recent statements made by Pakistan's Defence Minister, who suggested that India might execute a military operation across the Line of Control in Kashmir.

“This is not the India of 50 years ago. India has advanced and is on the path to becoming a 3 trillion economy, the second-largest in Asia. India will no longer endure the kind of actions that Pakistan previously escaped. The decisions made by our Honourable Prime Minister are entirely justified, and the Government of India will persist with that vision,” Thakur affirmed.

Point of View

It is evident that the issues surrounding the violence in Murshidabad are complex and multi-faceted. The call for enhanced security and a thorough investigation reflects the urgency needed to ensure public safety and maintain peace.
