The political climate in Bengal is increasingly contentious as elections approach.

Kolkata, March 28 (NationPress) Shortly after Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled a charge sheet targeting the Mamata Banerjee administration, the Trinamool Congress retaliated by launching a vigorous counter-offensive against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the national level, presenting their own charge sheet in direct reply to Shah's assertions.

On Saturday, the Mamata Banerjee-led party unveiled a comprehensive 15-page document titled “Mota Bhai, We Demand Answers.”

Senior Trinamool Congress figure and state minister Bratya Basu, alongside Members of Parliament Mahua Moitra and Kirti Azad, dismissed each accusation raised by the Union Home Minister.

Basu asserted, “The Special Intensive Revision is a scheme devised by you (the BJP). Your intention is to seal the Trinamool's fate; however, we will extract that very seal. We are fully equipped to respond to every point you (Amit Shah) have put forth in your charge sheet.”

During a press conference held at Trinamool Bhavan, the leaders confronted Shah by emphasizing the issue of women's safety.

“What is the situation of women's safety in your own territories? Examine Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Why do you remain mute regarding Manipur? What happened in Unnao and Hathras? You celebrate rapists with garlands. You grant immunity to individuals like Brij Bhushan. Discussing women's safety is utterly unbefitting for you,” Basu remarked.

In response to Shah’s claims concerning “infiltrators,” Basu highlighted that citizens are living in fear of car bomb attacks in Delhi, terrorist threats to Parliament, or catastrophes like those in Pahalgam.

He questioned why the identities of those arrested in connection with such events are kept secret, while Bengal is unfairly targeted with allegations of demographic changes.

He challenged the notion of whether Bengal should be “transformed into Gujarat.”

Moreover, the leaders labeled Amit Shah as “India’s most ineffective and unsuccessful Home Minister.”
