New Delhi/Agartala, May 25 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Saturday that the government aims to elevate the state's per capita income from the current $2,300 to $23,000 by the year 2047.
While speaking at the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, the Chief Minister emphasized the focus on sectors like medical wellness, eco-tourism, IT knowledge, resilient agriculture, rich history, cultural heritage, and sports.
In a recent meeting in Agartala, CM Saha stated, "Tripura ranks second in the northeastern region in terms of GDP after Assam and in per capita income after Sikkim. The state's abundant natural resources and stunning environmental beauty are invaluable, and the government is committed to utilizing them effectively for our development."
During the NITI Aayog meeting, he noted that the state's GDP has grown by over 15 percent in the last three years, indicating a promising start to this journey.
Highlighting the role of MSMEs and informal employment, he mentioned that Tripura boasts 86,117 Micro Small and Medium Enterprises.
Additionally, the state supports a robust base of 60,318 Self-Help Groups with 5,49,559 members and 94,723 Lakhpati Didis, according to Saha.
The Chief Minister pointed out the potential in the green economy and circular economy, stating that the government is working on a state-specific green economy policy with a holistic approach that includes youth and women, fostering a strong green startup ecosystem.
Saha reiterated Tripura's steadfast commitment to the vision of 'Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat' under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister and the strategic guidance of NITI Aayog.
