Agartala, July 13 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, officially inaugurated the groundwork for a significant project worth Rs 97.70 crore, aimed at creating a 51-Shakti Peethas Park in Banduar, Tripura. This initiative seeks to enhance the spiritual heritage of the region.
Joined by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, and other dignitaries, the Chief Minister participated in the ceremony for the foundation stone and Bhumi Pujan.
Tourism Minister Chowdhury announced that the park will feature the world's largest Nataraja statue and replicas of the 51 Shakti Peethas.
The 51 Shakti Peethas are located in various countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and different regions of India.
The Tripura government, with funding from the Union Tourism Ministry, is executing this ambitious project to establish the park in Banduar, situated about 68 km south of Agartala.
This site holds religious importance as it is only four km from the historic Tripura Sundari temple, one of the revered Shakti Peethas in the Gomati district of Udaipur town.
As per an official from the Tourism Department, the Union Tourism Ministry has allocated Rs 97.70 crore to develop the 51-Shakti Peethas Park, aimed at preserving and promoting spiritual heritage.
The park's location in Banduar, a peaceful village in the Gomati district, offers a beautiful natural environment.
Additionally, under the PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive) initiative, alongside funding from the Asian Development Bank, several tourism projects worth Rs 350 crore are being executed in Tripura, as stated by an official.
Earlier, Chief Minister Saha requested the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) to provide financial aid for the establishment of a seaplane service at Narikelkunja in Dumboor Lake, located in the Gomati district, to enhance tourist attractions in the state.
He presented this proposal during the second meeting of the high-level task force organized by the DoNER Ministry, chaired by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, focusing on tourism promotion in the northeastern region.
Dumboor Lake, situated 115 km south of Agartala, is a picturesque body of water created by the confluence of the Raima and Sarma rivers, offering boating facilities. The Narkel Kunja island has emerged as a prominent tourist attraction in Tripura.
