Key Takeaways
Agartala, Feb 1 (NationPress) Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed strong approval for the Union Budget 2026-27 on Sunday, labeling it as a visionary and people-centric framework that emphasizes last-mile progress, expansion of infrastructure, and targeted development for the Northeastern region.
The budget, unveiled by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament, has garnered significant public endorsement and showcases the Centre’s dedication to inclusive development, Saha informed the press.
Describing the 2026-27 budget as “one of the most commendable budgets,” Saha pointed out that the budget is anchored on three fundamental pillars: last-mile delivery, nationwide infrastructure enhancement, and the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas aur Vishwas.
He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on reaching remote and underserved regions is evident in the proposals outlined in the Budget.
Emphasizing notable initiatives for the Northeast, Saha welcomed the introduction of the proposed Buddhist Circuit, which will encompass Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Manipur, and Tripura, asserting that it would significantly enhance tourism and economic activity in the region.
“Visitors will explore several Northeastern states instead of just one destination, benefiting Tripura and the entire area,” he stated.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the Budget’s plan to launch electric buses in Northeastern states to bolster public transport and connectivity, promising additional details would be provided shortly.
Characterizing the Budget as youth-oriented and farmer-friendly, Saha remarked that it strongly emphasizes the welfare of young people, farmers, and women, while also significantly increasing investments in health, road infrastructure, and high-speed transportation.
He expressed optimism that the impact of the Budget would be evident by 2030 and would play a vital role in realizing the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
Earlier that day, while congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Finance Minister, he described the Budget as a guiding vision for India’s evolution into a developed nation by 2047.
“From manufacturing and world-class infrastructure to healthcare and tourism; from empowering rural regions to adopting advanced AI; from modern sports facilities to sacred pilgrimage sites, this Budget ignites the aspirations of our youth, women, and farmers in every village, town, and city,” Saha noted in a post on X.
