Bhopal, March 6 (NationPress) In an initiative aimed at enhancing participation in the wheat procurement process within Madhya Pradesh, the registration deadline has been pushed from March 7 to March 10. This extension provides farmers with additional time to enroll and take advantage of the program.

During discussions at his official residence on Friday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met with representatives from the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS).

The dialogue concentrated on significant issues affecting the agricultural community and led to several pivotal decisions intended to elevate farmers' incomes and alleviate cultivation difficulties.

Reiterating the state government's dedication to farmer welfare, Chief Minister Yadav highlighted that the prosperity of farmers is a primary concern.

As part of the ongoing support for Rabi crop growers, the Chief Minister also announced a bonus of Rs 40 per quintal for wheat procurement in Madhya Pradesh.

This bonus is in addition to the Central government's Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 2,585 per quintal, offering essential financial relief to wheat farmers who are grappling with market volatility and rising input costs.

In another significant revelation, the Chief Minister unveiled a major bonus of Rs 600 per quintal for urad (black gram) procurement.

This incentive is aimed at promoting pulse cultivation, encouraging crop diversification, and assisting farmers in maximizing their returns during the summer season, as the state advocates for a balanced production of pulses to foster agricultural sustainability.

Additionally, addressing a persistent request from the agricultural community, Chief Minister Yadav assured that farmers would soon benefit from daytime electricity supply for irrigation.

This initiative seeks to mitigate the inconveniences and safety hazards related to nighttime irrigation, facilitating better management of water resources and enhancing crop yields during critical growth phases.

The decisions stemmed from constructive conversations with BKS representatives, who brought forth the farmers' perspectives on procurement, pricing, and infrastructure requirements.

Chief Minister Yadav characterized the outcomes as a testament to the state government's 'farmer-first' approach, aligning with the declaration of 2026 as the Farmer Welfare Year in Madhya Pradesh.

The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh welcomed these announcements, viewing them as proactive steps toward fulfilling commitments made to the agricultural sector in the state.
