He expressed, “Mothers, sisters, and daughters across the nation are welcoming the decision to ensure women's reservation in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections scheduled for 2029. In this letter dedicated to the women of India, I shared my sentiments with fellow citizens about the importance of realizing this long-awaited promise,” he noted on X.
Previously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had written a letter to India's Nari Shakti, underscoring the increasing support for women's reservation in legislative bodies and reasserting the government's dedication to this long-delayed reform.
On the social media platform X, PM Modi stated, “Women nationwide are recognizing the initiative to secure reservations for women in legislative bodies. Here is my message to India's Nari Shakti, reaffirming our commitment to implementing what has been pending for decades.”
The Prime Minister commenced his letter with a traditional greeting, 'Namaskar,' and acknowledged the historical significance of April 14, the birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar. He paid homage to Dr. Ambedkar, highlighting his contributions to nation-building and the constitutional values that continue to guide India's democratic journey.
Additionally, the Prime Minister noted that Parliament is set to reconvene on April 16 to discuss a crucial constitutional amendment related to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
