Islamabad, March 6 (NationPress) The social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, has identified an operator in Pakistan managing 31 accounts that disseminated AI-generated videos related to the ongoing conflict in Iran.

Nikita Bier, X's head of product, shared in a post that these accounts were compromised, with their usernames altered to "Iran War Monitor" or similar variations on February 27.

"Just last night, we discovered an individual in Pakistan overseeing 31 accounts that were posting AI-generated war videos. All accounts had been hacked, and their usernames were modified on February 27 to read 'Iran War Monitor' or a variant of that. We are significantly improving our detection speed and reducing the incentives for such actions," Bier stated on X.

She further noted that the accounts were not only impersonating monitors related to Iran but also masquerading as multiple "IDF Girl" accounts, which were similarly operated from Pakistan.

In response to an inquiry on X, Bier remarked, "In 99% of instances, these are individuals simply aiming to exploit monetization. To clarify, yes, we have recently conducted a sweep of 'IDF Girl' accounts that originated from Pakistan. Their primary concern is solely what garners impressions, disregarding any political bias."

In light of this discovery, X is implementing stricter regulations. Bier announced that users who share AI-generated videos depicting armed conflicts without a disclosure indicating AI creation will face a 90-day suspension from the Creator Revenue Sharing program. She emphasized the necessity for individuals amidst the war to receive authentic information directly from the ground.

"Today, we are updating our Creator Revenue Sharing policies to ensure the authenticity of content on our Timeline and to prevent manipulation of the program. During wartime, it is vital for people to have reliable information from the ground. Given today's AI capabilities, it is alarmingly easy to produce misleading content," Bier posted on X.

"Effective immediately, any users who upload AI-generated videos of armed conflicts without a proper disclosure will be suspended from Creator Revenue Sharing for a period of 90 days. Repeated violations will lead to a permanent suspension from the program. We will identify these posts through Community Notes or if the content includes metadata indicating the use of generative AI tools. We will continuously refine our policies and products to ensure X remains a trustworthy platform during these crucial times," she added.

This decision from X comes in the wake of the ongoing turmoil in West Asia, which erupted following coordinated US-Israel strikes on Iran, aimed at crippling Tehran's missile capabilities and broader military infrastructure.

The initial phase of this operation resulted in the deaths of high-ranking Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, prompting a robust retaliatory response from Iran through drone and missile strikes targeting US assets, regional capitals, and allied forces throughout West Asia.
