New Delhi, April 8 (NationPress) In a significant advancement towards digital ease and privacy, the government unveiled a new Aadhaar application on Tuesday that enables users to verify and share their Aadhaar information digitally, thereby eliminating the necessity of carrying physical cards or providing photocopies.
The application was officially introduced by Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, in the nation’s capital.
Emphasizing the significance of digital innovation, the minister characterized the application as a step towards making Aadhaar verification more straightforward, quicker, and safer.
“New Aadhaar App, with Face ID authentication through a mobile application. No physical card, no photocopies,” Vaishnaw stated in a video message shared on the social media platform X.
He further noted that the application empowers users to share only the required information through secure digital channels, always with their consent.
“With just a tap, users can now share only the essential data, granting them total control over their personal information,” he remarked.
One of the prominent features of the application is Face ID authentication, which bolsters security and streamlines the verification process.
Aadhaar verification is now as simple as scanning a QR code, similar to making a UPI payment.
“Aadhaar verification becomes as easy as making a UPI payment. Users can now digitally confirm and share their Aadhaar details while protecting their privacy,” the minister indicated on X.
With this innovative system, individuals will no longer have to hand over printed copies of their Aadhaar cards at hotels, shops, airports, or other verification locations.
“No need to present Aadhaar photocopy at hotel receptions, shops, or during travel,” he emphasized.
The application, which is presently in its beta testing stage, has been developed with robust privacy protections.
It guarantees that Aadhaar information cannot be forged, altered, or misused. Data is shared securely and solely with the user’s approval.
Referring to Aadhaar as the “aadhaar” (foundation) of numerous government programs, Vaishnaw also highlighted the role of AI and digital public infrastructure (DPI) in shaping the digital landscape of India.
He encouraged stakeholders to propose methods to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) with DPI to foster further growth while prioritizing privacy.
