New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) The Aadhaar face authentication solutions, created by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), have witnessed significant growth, with more than 78 percent of the overall transactions occurring in FY25 alone, according to government reports.

Since its launch in October 2022, UIDAI has documented a total of over 130.5 crore transactions, with approximately 102 crore completed in the financial year 2024-25.

“This trend reflects the increasing usage and acceptance of this solution and its seamless benefits for Aadhaar number holders,” stated the IT Ministry.

During the period from January to March of this year, close to 39.5 crore face authentication transactions were recorded.

In the month of March alone, the face authentication solutions achieved over 15.25 crore transactions, marking a 21.6 percent increase compared to the previous month.

“This milestone highlights the confidence and adoption of this innovative biometric authentication method across various sectors such as fintech, finance, and telecommunications,” added the ministry.

Numerous government services are leveraging this technology for the efficient delivery of benefits to intended recipients. Key programs like PM Awas (Urban), PM E-Drive, PM-JAY, PM Ujjwala, PM Kisan, and PM Internship are utilizing Aadhaar face authentication.

This technology also serves as a reliable alternative, assisting senior citizens and others who may experience difficulties with fingerprint quality due to various factors, including manual labor or health conditions.

Currently, 102 entities, encompassing both government and private sectors, are utilizing Aadhaar face authentication.

This AI-powered solution operates on both Android and iOS platforms. It is designed to be resilient against video replay attacks and attempts at static photo authentication by malicious individuals, offering a contactless, anytime-anywhere solution.

This authentication method allows users to confirm their identity through a simple face scan, providing convenience while maintaining stringent security measures, according to the ministry.
