Government Reports Sale of Over 17.25 Lakh 5-Kg LPG Cylinders Since March 23

New Delhi, April 18 (NationPress) - The government announced on Saturday that since March 23, over 17.25 lakh 5-kg FTL cylinders have been distributed. Furthermore, since April 3, PSU oil marketing companies (OMCs) have conducted more than 6,450 awareness camps specifically for these cylinders, resulting in the sale of over 90,000 units.
These 5-kg FTL cylinders are intended solely for distribution to migrant laborers within their respective states, with the support of the OMCs.
Additionally, the allocation of commercial LPG has been raised to approximately 70 percent of the levels prior to the crisis, which includes a 10 percent allocation linked to reforms.
On April 17, a total of 8,216 MT of commercial LPG was sold, equivalent to over 4.32 lakh 19-kg cylinders.
Since March 14, a cumulative total of 1,58,583 MT of commercial LPG has been sold. This figure includes more than 9,200 MT of Auto LPG, according to the Petroleum Ministry.
It has been noted that Auto LPG sales have transitioned from private entities to PSU OMCs, with a significant 70 percent increase in sales to meet growing demand. The most notable surges in sales have been recorded in states such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.
Twenty-two states and Union Territories are currently receiving enhanced commercial LPG allocations as part of the PNG expansion reforms.
Moreover, since March, over 4.76 lakh PNG connections have been activated, with more than 5.33 lakh customers registered for new connections.
As of April 17, over 37,500 PNG consumers have opted to surrender their LPG connections, according to the ministry.
The supply of LPG has been impacted by the ongoing geopolitical situation, prioritizing delivery to domestic households.
Importantly, no dry-outs have been reported at LPG distribution centers. Online bookings for LPG have surged to approximately 98 percent across the industry as of April 17.
Deliveries utilizing the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system have increased to over 93 percent to mitigate diversion issues.
On April 17, over 52 lakh domestic LPG cylinders were successfully delivered.
