India's Internet Subscribers Reach 971.50 Million in Q3: TRAI Report

New Delhi, Jan 1 (NationPress) The total number of Internet subscribers in India has increased from 969.60 million at the close of June to 971.50 million by the end of September, reflecting a quarterly growth rate of 0.20 percent, according to government data released on Wednesday.
Among the 971.50 million internet subscribers, there are 43.64 million wired internet users and 927.86 million wireless internet users, as per the latest figures from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
During the same quarter, the broadband internet subscriber base saw a growth of 0.39 percent, rising from 940.75 million at the end of June to 944.39 million in September.
In addition, wireline subscribers grew from 35.11 million at the end of June to 36.93 million by September, achieving a quarterly growth rate of 5.20 percent.
Wireline tele-density also improved, moving from 2.50 percent at the end of June to 2.63 percent at the end of September, with a quarterly growth rate of 4.96 percent.
The monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) for wireless services rose by 9.60 percent, from Rs 157.45 to Rs 172.57. Moreover, on an annual basis, the monthly ARPU for wireless services saw an increase of 15.31 percent during the quarter, according to TRAI.
“In Q.E. Sep-2024, the ARPU for the prepaid segment stands at Rs 171 and for the postpaid segment at Rs 190.67,” it noted.
Access services accounted for 83.69 percent of the total Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) from telecom services. For access services, Gross Revenue (GR), Applicable Gross Revenue (ApGR), Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR), License Fee, Spectrum Usage Charges (SUC), and Pass Through Charges saw increases of 8.21 percent, 7.31 percent, 8.41 percent, 8.43 percent, 8.50 percent, and 0.71 percent, respectively, according to TRAI data.
