Key Takeaways
Bhubaneswar, Feb 1 (NationPress) The Odisha BJP President, Manmohan Samal, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the Union Budget on Sunday, labeling it as “inclusive, growth-oriented, and advantageous for all segments of society,” awarding it a flawless score of 10 out of 10.
In a media briefing, Samal remarked that the Budget has been designed with the welfare of all 140 crore Indians in mind, with Odisha positioned as one of the primary beneficiaries.
He emphasized the government's commitment to infrastructure development, connectivity, water resources, and industrial expansion, stating that these facets are vital for job creation and sustained economic growth.
The BJP leader noted that this budget contains numerous transformative initiatives and new programs aimed at realizing the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
“Spanning from Ayurveda to AI technologies, the budget emphasizes innovation and modernization. Over the last 12 years, under the astute leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India’s growth trajectory has remained steady, even amidst global economic challenges. This budget outlines a path for achieving a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 and addresses the aspirations of every segment of society,”
Samal said.
He further pointed out that significant attention has been placed in the Union Budget 2026-27 for the advancement of a Viksit Odisha. As part of the national waterways initiative, 20 new waterways will commence construction in the next five years, starting from Odisha. These waterways will link mineral-rich regions such as Talcher and Angul with industrial hubs like Kalinga Nagar and the Paradeep port, ushering in transformative changes to the state’s industrial landscape.
“A Rare Earth Corridor has also been proposed in Odisha, which will enhance production and generate additional employment opportunities within the state. Several fishery development centers will be modernized, fostering environmental protection and eco-tourism,”
Samal added.
He highlighted that the establishment of the National Institute of Design in eastern India will further stimulate growth in Odisha. The BJP leader reaffirmed that coastal regions will receive dedicated support for the cultivation of paddy, cashew, and other crops, which is promising news for Odisha’s agricultural community.
Moreover, the budget has allocated resources for the development of Tier-II and Tier-III cities, creating opportunities for investment and economic advancement for seven significant cities in Odisha. In response to criticisms from opposition leaders, including former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Samal contended that such criticism is driven by political motives.
“Our government has already addressed many of the demands previously made by Naveen Patnaik. Now, for political purposes, he is critiquing the Budget,”
Samal stated. Calling the Budget “forward-looking,” he asserted that the allocations will bolster Odisha’s growth potential and elevate the state to a leading position nationally.
“We wholeheartedly embrace this Budget. It establishes a robust foundation for employment, connectivity, and comprehensive development,”
he concluded.
