Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 26 (NationPress) The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has teamed up with the American tech leader Google to showcase authorized Aadhaar centres on Google Maps, aiming to improve accessibility and convenience for citizens, as announced by the government on Thursday.
Residents will be able to locate Aadhaar Centres based on the services they provide, such as enrolment for adults, enrolment for children, or updates for addresses and mobile numbers, according to an official announcement.
This feature is anticipated to roll out in the upcoming months.
Details about the centres' accessibility, including features like divyang-friendly infrastructure and parking availability, as well as operating hours, will be displayed when relevant, further enhancing the convenience for the public, the Ministry of Electronics and IT stated.
This partnership aims to improve public convenience, tackle misinformation, and guarantee that residents have easy access to over 60,000 Aadhaar centres, including the advanced Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) spread across the nation. The goal is to ensure users are directed to verified Aadhaar centres when they search on Google Maps.
“UIDAI is continually focused on enhancing the ease of living for Aadhaar number holders. This partnership will make navigating through authorized Aadhaar centres simpler, quicker, and more transparent,” stated Bhuvnesh Kumar, CEO of UIDAI.
In the next stage of this collaboration, UIDAI will utilize Google Business Profile to manage information about centres and respond to public feedback directly, ensuring a transparent and responsive service environment.
Additionally, this partnership will explore the option for direct appointment scheduling through the Google Maps interface, enabling residents to plan their visits more efficiently.
“By collaborating with UIDAI to integrate verified Aadhaar centres, we are helping millions of residents locate trusted services with assurance and bridging the gap between essential government services and the citizens who require them the most,” expressed Roli Agarwal, Country Head of Strategic Partnerships at Google India.
