Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 13 (NationPress) It is crucial for citizens, especially the youth, to possess a fundamental knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI)—its workings, applications, and responsible usage in daily life, as stated by Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister for Electronics and IT.
He emphasized that small businesses can greatly benefit from AI by integrating it into their everyday operations, thereby enhancing productivity.
“To achieve this goal, the National AI Literacy Programme has been initiated, aiming to engage 10 lakh learners within the coming year,” he remarked during the National Youth Day celebrations, according to a statement from the IT Ministry.
The government has reiterated its dedication to empowering the youth by highlighting the newly launched National AI Literacy Programme and its flagship course, YUVA AI FOR ALL, which aligns with Swami Vivekananda's vision of enlightened youth equipped for an AI-driven future.
At the event, the foundational course YUVA AI FOR ALL was showcased, aiming to make AI literacy an essential life skill, resonating with National Youth Day's emphasis on Yuva Shakti.
With a duration of just over four hours, YUVA AI FOR ALL is designed as an inclusive introduction to AI learning, requiring no previous technical expertise.
Available in 11 languages (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu), the YUVA AI FOR ALL course is free and can be accessed through leading learning platforms such as FutureSkills Prime, iGOTKarmayogi, DIKSHA, and other popular ed-tech portals.
Upon completion, each learner will receive an official certificate from the Government of India.
“The YUVA AI for All National AI Literacy Programme marks a pivotal step towards democratizing access to AI knowledge and preparing India's youth for the opportunities and responsibilities that come with an AI-driven future,” noted the IT Ministry.
