Chennai, April 5 (NationPress) The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, extended a warm welcome to the legendary Indian music composer Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja during his visit to Malaysia. He expressed hopes that the upcoming concert at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil would mark another significant chapter in the maestro's artistic journey.

On his social media account on X, the Malaysian Prime Minister shared, “It was a pleasure to meet the Indian music icon, Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, at my office today. We spoke about the importance of enhancing the cultural and artistic diplomatic relations between Malaysia and India.

“We also reminisced about the rich history of the Indian cinema and music scene that has left a lasting impression on audiences in Malaysia. Furthermore, I assured him that Malaysia will continue to honor and promote the arts and culture that exemplify the diversity and unity we have celebrated throughout the years.”

The Prime Minister took this opportunity to wish Ilaiyaraaja much success for his concert in Bukit Jalil, stating, “May this event become another remarkable milestone in your artistic path.”

In response to the Prime Minister's heartfelt welcome, Ilaiyaraaja expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you for your generous hospitality and kind words, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Your sentiments are truly valued.”

While the concert on Saturday will feature many of the iconic film songs composed by the music director, it remains uncertain whether a segment of his Western classical symphony, Valiant, will also be performed.

It is noteworthy that Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja recently made history by being the first Indian to showcase a Western classical symphony at the Eventim Apollo theatre in London.

Upon his return from London after this landmark concert, Ilaiyaraaja mentioned that his symphony, Valiant, is set to tour globally, with events already scheduled in 13 different countries.
