Kangana Ranaut Discusses 'Emergency': A Narrative Beyond a Controversial Leader

Mumbai, Jan 6 (NationPress) The talented actress, filmmaker, and parliamentarian Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for the release of her film “Emergency”, set to grace theaters on January 17. She emphasizes that this narrative is not merely centered around a controversial figure, as it explores themes that resonate deeply in today's context.
The newly released trailer, unveiled on Monday morning, showcases even greater intensity and political significance compared to the first one, depicting the chaotic period of 1975 and the notorious statement from former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, “Indira is India.”
Kangana notes, “Following a challenging journey, I am thrilled that our film Emergency will finally be screened on January 17. This story extends beyond a controversial leader; it engages with themes that are profoundly pertinent today, rendering this journey both challenging and meaningful.”
This film portrays the fervent protests led by Jayaprakash Narayan, alongside notable figures like young Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Pupul Jayakar, and Jagjivan Ram within this gripping narrative.
Kangana further stated, “Launching just a week ahead of Republic Day, this is an ideal moment to contemplate the strength of our Constitution and enjoy the film with your loved ones.”
Producer Umesh KR Bansal remarked, “As we commemorate 50 years since the 1975 Emergency, this film serves not only as a historical recount but also as a reflection on the strength of democracy and a salute to those who fought to uphold it.”
“Emergency is a cinematic landmark that invites audiences to question, engage, and remember the sacrifices for freedom,” he added.
Written, directed, and led by Kangana herself, Emergency boasts a remarkable ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in his final role.
