Mumbai, Jan 8 (NationPress) Actress Kangana Ranaut, who is getting ready for the release of her new movie ‘Emergency’, has disclosed that she has sent an invitation to politician Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
The film centers around the 21-month timeframe from 1975 to 1977 when former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi proclaimed a state of emergency across India, citing internal and external threats.
In an interview with IANS ahead of the film's premiere on January 17, the actress, who takes on the role of Indira Gandhi, stated, “I actually encountered Priyanka Gandhi in parliament. The first thing I mentioned was, ‘You should experience the Emergency’. She was very gracious and responded, ‘Yeah, maybe’. So we will see if they are interested in viewing the film. I believe it is a very thoughtful and sensitive depiction of a significant period and a remarkable individual. I have made considerable effort to portray Mrs. Gandhi with utmost dignity. During my extensive research, I found a plethora of material focused on her personal life, including her relationships and controversial associations.”
She further elaborated, “I realized that every individual has much more depth. Especially for women, they are often defined by their relationships with the men around them and sensational events. In fact, the majority of the controversial information revolved around those themes. However, I have depicted her with great dignity and sensibility. I truly believe that everyone should view this film.”
Kangana emphasized that Indira Gandhi was a well-loved leader.
“Despite some tumultuous events that occurred during the emergency, I believe she was very loved and respected. Holding the position of Prime Minister three times is no small feat. She was adored and celebrated.”
