Mumbai, Jan 8 (NationPress) Kangana Ranaut is currently engaged in promoting her highly anticipated political drama "Emergency". In this film, she will portray the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
In a recent interview with IANS, Kangana expressed her thoughts on the Gandhi Family and the concept of nepotism. She emphasized Indira Gandhi's privileged upbringing, stating, "It is evident that Indira Gandhi was a product of nepotism. However, when I encounter individuals in the film industry whom I may not admire or wish to emulate, I still approach the character with the utmost sensitivity because true artistry requires an unbiased perspective."
The 'Queen' actress elaborated, "While I may belong to a party that claims to represent the people, I can still maintain a sensitive outlook towards a person from a privileged background. Indira Gandhi came from a very affluent family. As the daughter of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, she served as Prime Minister three times and held prestigious positions in government; what more privilege could one desire? Yes, she was privileged, but that doesn't preclude me from delivering a thoughtful representation of her."
Kangana also mentioned her intention to invite Priyanka Gandhi to view "Emergency". She recounted, "I had the opportunity to meet Priyanka Gandhi in parliament, and my initial suggestion was, 'You should definitely watch 'Emergency'. She was very gracious and responded, 'Yeah, maybe'."
She expressed hope that they would consider watching the film, noting, "I believe it offers a very sensitive and reasonable portrayal of a significant historical event as well as an influential figure. I have meticulously worked to depict Mrs. Gandhi with great dignity. My research revealed a wealth of information about her personal life, including her relationships and controversial associations."
"Emergency" is set to be released in theaters on January 17 this year.
