Mumbai, April 19 (NationPress) A new police complaint has been lodged against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai for allegedly offending the sentiments of the Brahmin community. This complaint has been submitted by Atish Tiwari, an RTI activist.

Kashyap ignited controversy on April 18 through a social media post, making a shocking remark about urinating on Brahmins.

In the wake of his comment, numerous complaints have emerged across the nation, with Tiwari's being the most recent. The complaint was filed at Mumbai's Oshiwara Police Station under sections 194 and 198 of the BNS, in addition to section 67 of the IT Act.

A portion of the complaint states, "My client expressed that as a representative of the Brahmin community, we are profoundly hurt and unsettled by the accused's recent remarks, which move beyond mere criticism and venture into the territory of hate speech and public insult. His continuous use of crude, derogatory, and caste-specific language not only tarnishes an entire community but also cultivates a climate of animosity and distrust. It is profoundly unjust to target a community with a rich cultural and spiritual legacy, diminishing them to slurs and stereotypes under the guise of dissent or artistic liberty. No individual or group deserves to be addressed in such a vulgar and dehumanizing way."

Kashyap's comments regarding the Brahmins have been met with significant backlash.

The creator of 'Gangs of Wasseypur' had stated, "Brahmin pe main m***a..koi problem (I'll pee on the Brahmins...any problem)?" in response to the comment, "Brahmins are your father."

Subsequently, Kashyap issued an apology and attempted to explain his statement.

He wrote a note asserting that he cannot retract his words and does not wish to. He clarified that his apology was not for the post itself but for a line that was 'taken out of context'. "This is my apology, not for my post but for that one line taken out of context and the growing hatred. No action or speech is worth your daughter, family, friends, and colleagues receiving rape and death threats from the kingpins of sanskar (cultural values)," the director wrote.
