Mumbai, May 14 (NationPress) Renowned Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, celebrated for his works such as ‘Black Friday’, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, and ‘Ugly’, has openly criticized fellow director Vivek Agnihotri for what he claims are falsehoods.
On Wednesday, Anurag utilized his Instagram Stories to share an interview in which Vivek labeled him as a drunk and an irresponsible artist.
Firing back, Anurag stated, “Kitna jhootha hai ye aadmi. Shooting London mein hui thi (This man is such a liar. The filming occurred in London). I was in India. He refused to accept the script by Motwane or me. He aimed to create a Lagaan about football and had his own writer craft that subpar script. Neither I nor @motwane set foot on the set. Stop posturing @vivekagnihotri (sic).”
The film in discussion is ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’, featuring John Abraham and Arshad Warsi. Anurag served as the dialogue writer alongside Rohit Malhotra, while Vikramaditya Motwane was responsible for the screenplay. Rohit shares the credit for both screenplay and dialogues.
Previously, Anurag faced criticism after his comments regarding the recently released biopic ‘Phule’, which portrays social reformers Jyotirao Phule and his spouse Savitribai Phule. His remarks, perceived by some as casteist, ignited online outrage and calls for legal repercussions.
In the aftermath of this controversy, Kashyap's daughter, Aaliyah, along with his family and associates, received threats of violence from online trolls. Additionally, the director encountered legal trouble as an FIR was lodged against him in Jaipur for using abusive language towards the community.
He later issued an apology following the backlash concerning his comments on the Brahmin community.
