Mumtaz Remembers Asha Bhosle: The Unseen Bonds of Love
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 18 (NationPress) Renowned actress Mumtaz has shared a heartfelt tribute to the iconic singer Asha Bhosle, contemplating the themes of love, loss, and the profound nature of connections that often remain unseen by the public eye.
The actress, who rose to fame in the past, took to Instagram to post a video from the funeral of the beloved artist.
“Not all relationships and loves are meant to be displayed for the world to see. Some connections exist quietly in the heart—where only you can grasp the intensity of yearning and the burden of sorrow for those you hold dear. #ashabhosle jee, your absence will be deeply felt,” Mumtaz expressed.
Asha Bhosle was the voice behind numerous songs picturized on Mumtaz, including memorable tracks such as “Bindiya Chamkegi,” “Jai Jai Shiv Shankar,” “Duniya Mein Logon Ko” from Apna Desh, and “Koi Shahri Babu.”
The legendary singer passed away at the age of 92 in Mumbai. She was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday, and her last rites are scheduled for Monday at 4:00 PM at Shivaji Park.
As one of the most influential vocalists of her era, Asha Bhosle recorded her first playback song for the 1943 Marathi play ‘Majha Bal.’ She is celebrated for her iconic hits like ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko,’ ‘Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani,’ ‘Kya Ghazab Karte Ho Ji,’ ‘O Haseena Zulfonwale Jane Jahan,’ and ‘Ye Ladka Hay Allah Kaisa Hai Diwana,’ among many others.
On the other hand, Mumtaz began her acting journey at the young age of 11, debuting in “Lajwanti” and “Sone Ki Chidiya” both in 1958. Often stereotyped as a “stunt film heroine,” she starred in “Faulad” in 1963 and “Daku Mangal Singh” in 1966, which hindered her career.
She later appeared in notable films like “Ram Aur Shyam,” “Mere Hamdam Mere Dost,” and “Brahmachari.”
Mumtaz achieved her career breakthrough with the film Do Raaste in 1969, solidifying her status as a leading actress with hits such as Bandhan, Aadmi Aur Insaan, Sachaa Jhutha, Khilona, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Apna Desh, Loafer, Roti, and Nagin.
After taking a 13-year hiatus, her final film appearance was in the 1990 movie Aandhiyan, which tells the tale of Shakuntala and Dushyant, highlighting Dushyant's struggle between his love for his wife and his father’s disapproval due to her humble origins.
Mumtaz married businessman Mayur Madhvani in 1974, and they have two daughters, one of whom, Natasha, tied the knot with Feroz Khan's son, Fardeen Khan, in 2006.
