Chennai, April 29 (NationPress) Producer Yuvaraj Ganesan, representing the production team behind Abishan Jeevinth's forthcoming comedy drama, 'Tourist Family', starring Sasikumar and Simran in lead roles, has clarified that the decision to launch their film on the same date as Karthik Subbaraj's 'Retro', featuring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, was not driven by a desire to compete with the much-anticipated action thriller, but rather due to a lack of alternatives.
During a recent media interaction, the film's producer addressed questions regarding their choice to coincide with Suriya's highly awaited action film 'Retro', both set to premiere on May 1.
In response, Yuvaraj stated, "With the presence of OTT platforms, we no longer control our film's release dates."
The producer elaborated that filmmakers must adhere to agreements with platforms, which dictate specific release windows.
He added that they had committed to releasing their film on OTT by the conclusion of May, stating, "Thus, we had no choice but to release it on May 1," emphasizing that competition was not their intention.
"We have no desire to compete with Suriya's 'Retro', which is a major film. We have simply completed our project, and competition is not an issue. Due to the lack of available dates, we are releasing on May 1," he clarified.
'Tourist Family' is produced by Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment, with backing from producers Nasareth Baslian, Mahesh Raj Baslian, and Yuvaraj Ganesan. The film has already generated excitement in industry circles, with numerous insiders praising it.
In fact, distributor Vithurs, who acquired the overseas rights for the upcoming family entertainer, described the film as a "gem" and expressed a personal connection as an Eelam Tamil.

A simple story with immense heart, filled with laugh-out-loud moments and emotionally poignant scenes. For me, this is @SasikumarDir sir's best performance as an actor.
