Chennai, April 7 (NationPress) The filming of the highly anticipated spy thriller ‘Sardar 2’, directed by P S Mithran and featuring Karthi in the lead role, has officially reached its 100th day on Monday. Sources from the film unit have indicated that the shooting is nearing its conclusion.
On his Instagram account, cinematographer George C Williams, who is handling the camera work for the film, shared a photo showing the camera positioned on P S Mithran, with the caption, “Directoring the director. Handheld filming. 100th day shoot #sardar2.”
In a previous exclusive interview with IANS, Mithran mentioned that only about 5 to 10 percent of the movie is left to be filmed.
He also confirmed that dubbing for the film is currently underway at the same time. “Only about another 5 to 10 percent remains. Yes, dubbing is happening simultaneously,” he stated during an event held for the prologue launch of the film.
The recently released prologue features Karthi in an action sequence where he wields the Japanese sword Katana. When asked whether this scene occurs in Japan or China, Mithran confirmed it takes place in China.
“Karthi had sufficient training in sword fighting thanks to his work in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan. He only required slight tips and minimal training for these fight scenes,” Mithran explained.
When questioned about the promo released with the announcement of the sequel, which depicted Karthi’s character as a spy heading to Cambodia, Mithran clarified, “The story initially takes us to Cambodia and later transitions to China.”
The prologue also revealed that actor S J Suryah plays the main villain in the film, known as Black Dagger.
In addition to Karthi, S J Suryah and Rajisha Vijayan, the film also stars actors Malavika Mohanan, Aashika Rangnath, and Sajal Ahmed.
On the technical side, Sardar 2 features cinematography by George Williams and music by Sam C S. The film is edited by Ruben, with art direction by K Kadhir. Stunt choreography is handled by Dhilip Subbarayan, while the sequel's story is penned by M R Pon Parthipan, Roju Bipin Ragu, and Geevee.
