Chennai, Mar 31 (NationPress) The production team behind director P S Mithran's highly anticipated spy thriller Sardar 2, starring Karthi and Rajesha Vijayan, unveiled the first look poster on Monday.
In a post shared on his social media, director P S Mithran announced, “Eid Mubarak everyone! Check out the #Sardar2 first look Prologue, dropping at 12:45 pm today.”
The initial image showcases Karthi with a fierce expression, wielding a Katana, the traditional Japanese sword used by Samurai warriors.
A prologue for the film is also set to be released later today.
Sardar 2 is currently nearing the completion of filming, with the cast concurrently recording their dialogues.
This sequel is reported to have the highest production budget of all Karthi's films to date.
The first installment, Sardar 1, was a massive success, prompting producer Lakshman of Prince Pictures to gift director P S Mithran a Toyota Fortuner in recognition of the film's remarkable performance. Not only was it a major box office hit, but it also conveyed a profound message about the importance of water conservation.
In the first part, Karthi portrayed dual roles: a RAW agent and his son, a police officer striving to restore his father's tarnished reputation. In the sequel, the son will take on the role of a spy for the Indian government, embarking on a mission to Cambodia.
Sardar 1 featured a notable cast, including Chunky Pandey from Bollywood, and marked the return of popular actress Laila to cinema. Sardar 2 will also include not only Karthi and Rajesha Vijayan but also SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Aashiq Rangnath, and Sajal Ahmed.
On the technical side, Sardar 2 will have cinematography by George Williams, with music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film’s editing is managed by Ruben, while K Kadhir is responsible for the art direction.
