Mumbai, Feb 20 (NationPress) Filmmaker Sudhanshu Saria recently commended actors Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha for their pivotal role in presenting "TAPS," an LGBTQ+ drama.
In an interview with IANS, Saria stated that having a straight couple take on the responsibility of showcasing such a significant LGBTQ+ narrative added a unique and powerful element to the story. He referred to their involvement as the "cherry on top of the cake," highlighting how their participation enhanced the project and made the storytelling even more profound.
Sudhanshu mentioned, “In fact, getting Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha to present the film made everything ten times sweeter. I have shared a long relationship with them and admire them as individual artists and together as a couple. The idea of a straight couple presenting the story of queer love felt like the cherry on top of this amazing cake.”
Characterizing "TAPS" as a special project, he remarked, “It was the first time collaborating with KASHISH Film Foundation, which is vital for queer film rights and LGBTQ+ content & movement. It’s our first time working with Lotus Visual Productions which is Neeraj Churi’s company. He has become a significant voice in the queer community. It is our time to bring a new filmmaker to Mumbai, introducing Arvind Caulagi as a fresh voice for audiences. Additionally, we’re introducing Ullas Samrat too, who I believe has a promising career ahead of him.”
“As a producer, I am most excited to empower these voices and help another queer narrative come to life. For me, this marks a 10-year anniversary of Love—the queer film that launched my career; I am returning to provide another resonant story for people to engage with,” the director expressed.
Sudhanshu Saria, who celebrates his birthday today, also shared thoughts on this special occasion.
“Every birthday offers a chance to reflect and assess the past year, and this birthday is particularly special due to the remarkable year I experienced. Celebrating the incredible collaborations I enjoyed on Big Girls Don’t Cry, Ulajh, Sahiba, Sanaa, and TAPS was perfect. It was gratifying to be part of five distinct projects and become a member of such unique film families. This birthday was about honoring each of those collaborations,” Sudhanshu noted.
