Guwahati, April 13 (NationPress) In a remarkable advancement for oncological surgery and enhancing outcomes for cancer patients, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the pioneering onco-robotic surgery facility in the northeastern region at the State Cancer Institute, situated within the premises of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

Sarma, addressing the gathering during the launch of this integrated facility, remarked: “Assam is commencing Rongali celebrations by unveiling the first robotic surgery facility in North East India. Our government hospital will now provide low-cost, highly precise, and minimally invasive oncological surgical procedures utilizing ‘Make in India’ technology.”

The Chief Minister also revealed plans for a similar Robotic Surgery System to be established in Dibrugarh and Silchar soon, aimed at benefiting patients in Upper Assam and the Barak Valley region.
