Israeli Airstrikes Claim Lives of Palestinian Photojournalist and Seven Others in Gaza

Gaza, Dec 14 (NationPress) At least eight Palestinians have died, which includes a photojournalist, due to a sequence of Israeli airstrikes aimed at various locations in the Gaza Strip, as per official reports from Palestinian sources.
The spokesperson for Gaza Civil Defense, Mahmoud Basal, informed Xinhua that photojournalist Shadi al-Salafiti and another individual were killed on Friday afternoon during an Israeli airstrike near the al-Sina'a region in Gaza City.
Basal further stated that two Palestinians were also killed earlier in the day during an Israeli raid to the east of the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, while another individual lost their life due to Israeli shelling in the Miraj area, located north of Rafah city in southern Gaza.
Early in the morning, three individuals were reported dead from an Israeli strike on a tent accommodating displaced persons in Khan Younis, according to a statement from the Nasser Medical Complex.
The Israeli army has not issued any comments regarding these incidents.
On the same day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that their troops operating in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza dismantled an underground rocket launch site that posed a threat to communities in southern Israel.
In Rafah, IDF forces identified tunnel shafts, eliminated militants, and dismantled militant infrastructure over the previous day, the statement further indicated.
Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources reported to Xinhua that Israeli authorities released 17 detainees from the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom crossing, located in the southern region of Gaza.
Medical sources revealed that the released detainees exhibited signs of severe fatigue along with indications of physical torture and abuse.
According to Palestinian human rights organizations, the Israeli army has detained hundreds of Palestinians during its ongoing ground operation in Gaza, transferring them to undisclosed locations.
Israel has been conducting a significant offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip as a response to a Hamas attack through the southern Israeli border on October 7, 2023, which resulted in approximately 1,200 fatalities and around 250 hostages.
As of Friday, the Palestinian death toll from the continuous Israeli assaults in the Gaza Strip has reached 44,875, as reported by health authorities based in Gaza.
