Nine Lives Lost in Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza Strip

Gaza, Dec 22 (NationPress) At least nine individuals have tragically lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, according to reports from Palestinian sources. Israeli warplanes targeted a gathering of Palestinians in the morning hours, specifically west of the al-Shati refugee camp on Saturday, stated Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Civil Defence in Gaza.

Basal informed Xinhua that seven people were confirmed dead, while several others sustained injuries in the attack, with all casualties being transported to the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City.

Additionally, medical personnel recovered one deceased individual and several injured following an Israeli airstrike on a residence near the al-Ta'min school in central Gaza, as reported by Basal.

In another incident in southern Gaza's Rafah, medics reported that a Palestinian was killed by an Israeli drone in the Khirbet al-Adas area, located north of the city, according to Xinhua news agency.

Local sources and eyewitnesses indicated that the Israeli military has been demolishing residential buildings in the al-Janina neighborhood, east of Rafah, throughout the morning.

The Israeli military has yet to respond to these events.

On the same day, Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, expressed concerns regarding the critical situation within the hospital.

"Shells struck the third floor and the entrance on Friday. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties, but it incited fear among the injured and children," Abu Safiya remarked.

He lamented, "Currently, we are not receiving sufficient supplies of electricity, water, and oxygen."

Abu Safiya emphasized that the Israeli military has not permitted the entry of essential medical supplies, and medical personnel are being denied access.

He called upon the international community to facilitate the swift entry of humanitarian aid, including medical supplies, surgical tools, and healthcare professionals, to ensure continued care for the injured and ill in northern Gaza.

Israel has been executing a significant military offensive against Hamas in Gaza as a response to a Hamas assault through the southern Israeli border on October 7, 2023, which resulted in approximately 1,200 fatalities and about 250 individuals taken hostage.

According to statements from Gaza-based health authorities, the Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli assaults in the Gaza Strip has reached 45,227 as of Saturday.
