Kabul, March 13 (NationPress) Reports confirm that at least four individuals lost their lives and 14 others sustained injuries from airstrikes in the Pul-e-Charkhi district of Kabul, Afghanistan, last night, as per the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). The UNAMA urgently called for a halt to ongoing hostilities to prevent further civilian casualties.
Since February 26, a staggering 75 individuals have been killed and 193 injured in Afghanistan amid the escalating armed conflicts involving Pakistan, according to UNAMA statistics.
“UNAMA has documented at least four civilian fatalities and 14 injuries, which include women and children, as a result of the airstrikes in Pul-e-Charkhi, Kabul, last night. We continue to urge an immediate end to hostilities to safeguard civilian lives,” UNAMA stated on X.
“Civilians, predominantly women and children, are bearing the brunt of the recent surge in cross-border violence. Since February 26, UNAMA has recorded 75 civilian deaths and 193 injuries in Afghanistan due to the ongoing clashes,” it further noted.
Earlier on Friday, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid reported that Pakistan had initiated new military strikes across several Afghan provinces, including Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, and Paktika, leading to civilian casualties, particularly affecting women and children.
The situation has intensified tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, with the Taliban denouncing the strikes as blatant violations of Afghan sovereignty.
“In a continuation of previous aggressions, the Pakistani military regime has once again bombed regions including Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, and Paktika. In some areas, they targeted civilian homes, resulting in the deaths of women and children, while in others, they struck deserted lands,” Mujahid noted on X.
Condemning the Pakistani attacks, he emphasized, “This unjust aggression during the last ten days of Ramadan and right before Eid al-Fitr shows a complete disregard for human dignity and moral values. The Islamic Emirate condemns these acts vehemently, and we will ensure that this injustice does not go unanswered.”
Mujahid also accused Pakistani military aircraft of igniting a blaze at a fuel storage facility of Kam Air, a private airline near Kandahar International Airport, which supplies fuel to civilian and UN aircraft. “This comes after they also set fire to fuel depots belonging to private traders such as Haji Khan Zada,” he stated on X.
The latest round of hostilities between Afghanistan and Pakistan commenced when Afghan forces retaliated against Pakistani military positions on February 27, following Islamabad’s actions targeting Afghan territory on February 21. In response to Afghanistan's operations, Pakistan launched 'Operation Ghazab lil-Haq' (Righteous Fury) citing unprovoked firing from Afghan forces across various border sectors.
