Kuala Lumpur, Feb 7 (NationPress) Emphasizing the recent trade agreements forged by India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that India is recognized as a reliable ally for development, asserting that trust has evolved into the nation’s “most powerful currency”.

“India is perceived as a dependable partner for growth. Be it the UK, UAE, Australia, New Zealand, Oman, the EU, or the USA, these nations have formed trade agreements with India. Trust has become India’s most powerful currency,” stated PM Modi while addressing the Indian community in Kuala Lumpur shortly after his arrival in Malaysia for a two-day visit.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was also present at the event, having traveled alongside PM Modi from the airport.

PM Modi articulated that the term IMPACT – representing India Malaysia Partnership for Advancing Collective Transformation – encapsulates the essence of the relationship between the two nations, indicating that India’s achievements also signify triumph for Malaysia and Asia.

“India’s success equates to Malaysia’s success; it is Asia’s success. This is why I emphasize that the guiding term of our relationship is IMPACT. IMPACT signifies the India-Malaysia Partnership for Advancing Collective Transformation,” expressed PM Modi.

Demonstrating a special gesture, PM Modi received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Kuala Lumpur from his Malaysian counterpart, along with Malaysian Minister of Human Resources Ramanan Ramakrishnan and Deputy Foreign Minister Lukanisman bin Awang Sauni. This was followed by a vibrant cultural reception that showcased the shared heritage of both nations.

The visit aims to reinforce the India-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was established in 2024. It also underscores India’s strong dedication to strengthening India-Malaysia relations, a crucial element of New Delhi’s Act East Policy, Indo-Pacific vision, and Vision MAHASAGAR.

Prime Minister Modi is visiting Malaysia from February 7-8 at the invitation of Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim. This marks PM Modi's third visit to Malaysia since 2015.

During his address, PM Modi highlighted that Malaysia is home to the second-largest Indian-origin community globally, which continues to play a vital role as a bridge between both countries.

“Recently, in my monthly radio talk, Mann Ki Baat, I spoke about you. I informed 1.4 billion Indians about over 500 schools in Malaysia that teach children in Indian languages,” PM Modi shared during the community event in Kuala Lumpur.

Stressing the deep connections between Indian and Malaysian hearts, PM Modi commended the Indian community in Malaysia.

“It is impressive how you have maintained traditions across centuries,” he remarked.

PM Modi acknowledged that the Tamil diaspora in Malaysia is contributing to society in various sectors.

“Indeed, the Tamil diaspora has been present here for centuries. Inspired by this rich history, we are proud to have established the Thiruvalluvar Chair at the University of Malaya. We will also be setting up a Thiruvalluvar Centre to further enhance our shared heritage,” he declared in Kuala Lumpur.

PM Modi encouraged everyone present to explore and experience Incredible India.

“You should also bring your Malay friends along. Because the bond between people is the foundation of our friendship,” he added.
