Moscow, May 3 (NationPress) Russia has announced a state of emergency in the port city of Novorossiysk, located in the Krasnodar region, following a reported attack by Ukraine that resulted in damage to residential buildings within a complex. "A state of emergency has been declared in Novorossiysk. Due to the overnight assault by the Kyiv regime, apartment structures in the Aurora Residential Complex and along Suvorovskaya Street have been impacted. Additionally, private property in the Eastern District has also suffered damage. Emergency response teams are currently on-site, and we will set up temporary accommodation centers if deemed necessary," stated Mayor Andrey Kravchenko via his Telegram channel.
Krasnodar region Governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed that the Black Sea shoreline of Krasnodar was targeted by Kyiv on Friday night, leading to damage to three residential buildings in Novorossiysk.
The incident reportedly involved a drone attack that resulted in injuries to five individuals, including two children, and caused damage to three tanks at a grain terminal.
Drone debris also landed in Taman village within the Temryuksky district, as well as in Yurovka and Tsibanobalka near Anapa. Although private homes were affected, no fatalities were reported.
In a discussion with the state-operated news agency TASS, Sergey Altukhov, a State Duma member representing the Krasnodar region, remarked that the assault on Novorossiysk, which involved children, indicates a troubling shift from targeting infrastructure to acts of terrorism against Russian civilians by the Kyiv regime. "Novorossiysk serves as our vital transportation and logistics center in the Black Sea. For the past three years, it has appeared that the city has been accustomed to living in a perpetual state of emergency readiness. The Kyiv regime has transitioned from strikes on infrastructure to direct terrorism aimed at civilians. Consequently, three apartment buildings in populated residential areas were damaged, and individuals were injured," Altukhov added.
Previously, while blaming Ukraine for unrest in the Black Sea region, Nikolay Patrushev, a Russian Presidential aide and Chairman of the Maritime Board, stated that both Moscow and Washington are committed to ensuring the security of maritime traffic, urging Kyiv to take the next step.
"The operations of Ukraine's armed forces and mercenaries represent the primary destabilizing element in the Black Sea region," Patrushev conveyed in an interview with TASS.
"Simultaneously, as we have witnessed, Kyiv has repeatedly shown its total inability to engage in negotiations," the Kremlin aide concluded.
