New Delhi, Jan 2 (NationPress) Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, who has recently returned to Dhaka following a 17-year exile in the United Kingdom, reported an income of Bangladesh Taka (Tk) 676,000 (approximately Indian Rupees 4,98,414) for the 2025–26 tax year, primarily derived from shares and bank fixed deposits, according to reports.

He heads a coalition opposed to a rival faction that includes the BNP’s former ally-turned-main opponent, Jamaat-e-Islami, in the upcoming February 12 general elections. The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Md. Shafiqur Rahman, reported an income of Tk 360,000 (around Rs. 2,65,428) primarily from agriculture and donations.

The figures were disclosed by Bangladesh’s Prothom Alo newspaper, which examined the affidavits of both leaders as published on the Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) website.
