Washington, Dec 23 (NationPress) American businesses operating in Bangladesh maintain a long-term outlook on the country's economic future, even as it nears national elections, stated Atul Keshap, President of the US-Bangladesh Business Council.
“Bangladesh is heading towards an election in the coming months, and we wish them well with that,” Keshap remarked, emphasizing that the electoral process is “a matter for the people of Bangladesh to decide.”
Representing American firms, he noted that US companies have consistently supported the economic progress of Bangladesh. “American firms have always viewed Bangladesh from a long-term perspective,” he told IANS, adding that decades of development have “helped uplift millions from poverty.”
Keshap expressed hope that this momentum would persist. “We aspire for continued economic growth and a brighter, more prosperous future for the citizens of Bangladesh,” he stated.
He highlighted that Bangladesh's appeal as an investment hub remains significant. “We hope that Bangladesh can continue to serve as a favorable destination for American investment,” he noted, asserting that such investments enhance the country’s economic capabilities.
Regarding the effects of recent upheavals, Keshap affirmed the commitment of US companies. “Many have been present for several decades,” he said, citing their contributions to sectors including manufacturing, textiles, energy, and the digital economy.
This commitment, he asserted, would persist. “That commitment will remain,” he reiterated, acknowledging the importance of predictability for business and capital flows. “Companies and capital naturally gravitate towards environments where predictability exists,” he remarked.
Keshap expressed wishes for stability, prosperity, and a successful electoral process in Bangladesh. “We wish only stability, happiness, and prosperity for the people of Bangladesh,” he concluded.
Bangladesh has emerged as one of South Asia's significant growth narratives, driven by export-led manufacturing and consistent economic growth.
US firms have maintained a steady role in the nation's development, often prioritizing long-term engagement over short-term fluctuations.
