Hyderabad, Jan 1 (NationPress) During the New Year festivities under the jurisdiction of the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, a staggering 928 individuals were apprehended for driving while intoxicated.
In a bid to thwart road mishaps and other unfortunate events, the Cyberabad Police executed an extensive operation targeting drunk driving from the evening of December 31, 2025, until the early hours of Thursday.
For this operation, 55 teams were mobilized across Cyberabad, leading to the arrest of 928 drivers under the influence of alcohol, with formal charges filed against them.
Out of these cases, 695 were against two-wheeler operators, 31 involved three-wheeler drivers, 199 were four-wheeler drivers, and three were heavy vehicle operators.
The driving licenses of the offenders will be confiscated and sent to the respective RTAs for suspension under Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, as per Cyberabad Police.
Among those caught, 419 individuals exhibited alcohol levels exceeding 100 mg/100 ml of blood, 35 with levels above 300 mg/100 ml, and five individuals showed alarmingly high levels surpassing 500 mg/100 ml.
The majority of offenses were recorded within the traffic police station jurisdictions of Miyapur, RC Puram, Raidurgam, Gachibowli, Kukatpally, Medchal, Narsingi, Rajendranagar, and KPHB.
Cyberabad's Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr. Gajarao Bhupal, along with all Law and Order DCPs and Traffic DCPs, remained active on the ground throughout the night, ensuring smooth traffic operations, effective enforcement, and secure celebrations across the Cyberabad Commissionerate.
